We are excited to announce that Achtermann Chiropractic is celebrating 26 years of business in downtown Louisville! It’s humbling, rewarding and exhilarating to think of all the people we’ve helped these past 26 years! Thank you all for being a part of our journey of making Colorado a healthier place to be. See below for the history of our business.
A trip down memory lane written by Dr. Karen Achtermann (formerly McConnell)
I graduated from Logan College of Chiropractic near St. Louis, Missouri in December of 1994. I originally started working at Dr. Bammer’s office near Memory Square Park in Louisville, but shortly after opened my own office at 915 Walnut Street, off Main Street in downtown Louisville. Back then, many businesses were closed on Monday, but not McConnell Chiropractic! Main Street was much more of a sleepy town back then. I started my practice without staff or a computer, had 3 adjusting tables and some other minimal equipment. Some of my favorite business neighbors were Bob the Barber from Thunderbird Barbers, the Louisville Florist, Hank at the Train Store, and Kevin from the Bakery. I hired my first staff, Carter, to help out at the front desk. As I got busier Tina worked for me for many years. Dr. Marty and I got married in 1997 and we changed our business name to Achtermann Chiropractic. Dr. Marty joined the practice shortly thereafter and we moved around the corner to 908 Main Street, Suite 200, which was upstairs from the Louisville Florist. Tina helped out with the transition of moving offices, as well as keeping an eye on our first son, Drew, which many of you remember running around the office with his plastic lawnmower and train. After our second son, Trevor, was born Dr. Marty and I alternated hours at the office. At this time Kristi Robl-Endriss joined the practice and worked in our office doing massage therapy for 16 years!
We want to thank all the wonderful staff we’ve had over the years for their dedication to the profession and to our business. Thank you Carter, Tina, Tracy, Ingrid, Theresa, Debbie, Cristy, Patti, Germaine, Sophia, Kelly, Jazmin, Jennifer, Terri, and currently MaryLynn, Gwen, and Ellie..we couldn’t have grown and been successful without all your help!
In 2003 we moved once again to our current location at 600 Main Street. Originally, Dr. Burns, a medical Doctor owned the front part of the building, which was built in the late 1800s. Later the building was bought by a family that owned it for about 100 years. They lived in the addition they put on in the back and had a beauty salon in the original part in the front. The entrance to our business was in the front and the entire building was our office. In 2017 we reconfigured our office and now rent the front part of the building to Crystal Springs and Achtermann Chiropractic is located in the back.
We want to especially thank YOU, our patients, for your loyalty and dedication to Chiropractic and to us! We have enjoyed taking care of your families and watching your kids grow up over the past two decades. We have also mourned the loss of some of your family members, and have thought of it as an honor to have known them. We enjoy going to work every day, witnessing miracles daily and helping people improve their quality of life and live their life to their fullest health potential. Over the years, we’ve seen Louisville grow and change to the vibrant community it is today and I can’t think of a better town to work in.
