Temporary Closure of Main Street Begins April 26, 2021
(Info taken from the City of Louisville Webpage titled Indoor and Outdoor Dining): The winter version of the City’s Outdoor Dining program on Main Street will be transitioned to a temporary closure to vehicular traffic beginning on April 26. The temporary street closure will again allow restaurants to expand dining options and provide distanced seating required under public health orders.
The Outdoor Dining program for 2021 will operate between April 26 and November 1. During this period Main Street between Walnut Street and Elm Street will be closed to all non-emergency vehicles. All eastbound/westbound streets remain open to vehicles. A traffic detour will be in place starting at South Street, directing southbound drivers to turn left and detour on Front Street, except when any temporary closures of Front Street are in place to accommodate special events (such as Farmers Market or Street Faire).
It is expected the outdoor seating areas on Main Street will be open for patrons by April 29. The City will provide a list of participating restaurants at a later date.
Local businesses and their staff are working hard to keep our community safe. As of April 6, 2021, the requirement for facial coverings outdoors has been removed in Louisville. Please keep in mind that masks are still required in indoor public spaces, such as when entering a restaurant to request a table or use the restroom.
- Maintain 6 feet of distance.
- Contactless payment is preferred.
- If you’re feeling sick, stay at home.
- Be respectful, patient, and kind.
Customers who are sick or not feeling well, have recently traveled outside of the US, or may have come into contact with someone with COVID-19 should not enter businesses (including outdoor dining spaces).
***We recommend that you park directly adjacent/ south of the office on Elm Street, or in the neighborhood streets to the south of the office. The city parking lots north and east of the building will also be available to park in. Walnut, Pine, Spruce and Elm Streets will all remain open. If you need to be dropped off, the best place will probably be at the intersection of Main and Elm on the South side of the building.
We think it’s a great opportunity for all of our patients to get a little more exercise when you walk from your car to the office! This will greatly help the restaurants/ bars downtown have more outdoor seating due to the Covid-19 social distancing requirements. Thank you for supporting all downtown Louisville businesses during this time!!
